It is one of the most famous and nutritious desserts in Libya, due to the main ingredients that go into its preparation, which are milk, sugar and corn starch. Cinnamon or honey can be added to it, to add a distinctive and different taste, therefore it is one of the types of desserts that accept many and varied additions, which at the same time make it rich and beloved dish for all family members, especially children. It is usually served after dinner as a dessert dish, and in the month of Ramadan after iftar or at times of suhoor.

Ingredients

4 cups milk, 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1 tablespoon of orange blossom water.

Garnish

Cinnamon, coconuts, pistachio or almond.

Preparation

In a large saucepan, heat the milk and sugar while keeping a cup of milk. Dissolve cornstarch in a cup of milk, pour it into a pan and whisk gently. Add the orange blossom water and stir until the mixture thickens and small bubbles appear. Cook for another 5 minutes. Pour into individual serving bowls and garnish. Put it in the fridge, and serve cold. It can also be served warm, that is, as desired.
