The cultural committee of Al-Ikhaa Houn Club has organized a lecture titled, “The City of Houn and its Culture Heritage" at Abdullah Al-Houni Secondary School Theater.

The lecture was presented by Ahmed Abdul Salam Berkous, who emphasized the importance of disseminating the history of Houn in order for the young generation to become familiar with their heritage and to ensure the preservation of cultural identity within the community.

The talk covered the history, geography, values, and culture of the city. He also highlighted how the people first settled down in this region and their transition from a nomadic Bedouin group to a sedentary community.

Houn is located in the center of Libya, where palm trees and spring water occupies most of the land.

The people of Houn have long cared for and valued palm trees. Their handicrafts are basically made from palm fronds. Houn art is also noted for its traditions in pottery and leather tanning. As such the art of weaving silk was widely practised.
