Zintan is one of the cities of Libya, located approximately in the center of the western mountain (Nafusa Mountains), 136 km to the southwest of the city of Tripoli, Zintan is the second urban settlement in the western mountain region in terms of population density after the city of Gharyan. 
In the past, the residents of the region relied on the truffle trade as their main occupation, and some residents adhere to agriculture as their main occupation, especially the cultivation of wheat and barley. 
Then the city witnessed a remarkable development in all fields, as it is also considered an important commercial center in the western mountain region. 
Herding and raising livestock are also among the most important occupations in Zintan, where its residents are famous for raising livestock such as sheep, goats and camels. 
The population of the city of is 62,000, according to the 2006 population census. 
The municipality of Zintan is also affiliated with several main cities, such as (Al-Marhan), which is 90 km away from the city of Zintan in the south direction.
