Armed robbers have killed two bank coordinators and made off with a large sum of cash in the southern city of Sabha on Saturday.

The two persons, who coordinate money withdrawal between the branch of National Commercial Bank and Sabha tribesmen, were murdered while en route to hand over the money to its owners.

Due to the liquidity crisis, Sabha tribesmen have adopted a system of cash withdrawal from the city’s banks through social coordinators to avoid bank congestion and fighting.

As much as LYD one million dinars were taken according to local sources, though the bank has not confirmed the amount. 

The dead men have been identified as Mohammed Abdulali and Hamad Al-Badawi.

Sabha is under the control of Khalifa Haftar’s self-styled army.
