The Criminal Courthouse of the Supreme Court has temporarily suspended carrying out the sentences on six former regime figures after they have challenged the sentences by reasons of sickness and old age.

The head of the interrogation office at the Attorney General’s Office, Al-Seddeek Al-Soor, said the Criminal Courthouse accepted the appeal of Ahmed Al-Shareef, Mohammed Al-Zway, Husni Al-Wehishi, Abdul Hafeeth Al-Zaleetni, Abdul Majeed Al-Mizwaghi, and Ammar Al-Nayed.

Al-Soor added that the procedures of the release are to proceed once the verdict is officially announced provided that the court reviews the appeals made by the defendants later.

The six former regime figures were previously sentenced to either lifetime jail or 5-10 years in prison over accusations of cracking down February revolution.
