Official authorities in Tripoli managed to infiltrate a gang consisting of three Libyans and one Syrian individual, seeking to sell priceless historical Aramaic manuscripts.

The Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Deterrence Agency frustrated and prevented an attempt to sell historical Aramaic manuscripts, adding on its official Facebook page on Wednesday that it had managed to infiltrate a gang consisting of three Libyans and a Syrian national, all of whom were seeking to sell the historical manuscripts, which were written in the ancient Aramaic language.

The agency explained that specialists in the Antiquities Authority, having examined the manuscripts, confirmed that they were, in fact, genuine and subject to the Libyan Antiquities Law on the protection of historical antiquities.

It is worth noting that the Aramaic language is an eastern Semitic language, influenced by Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Greek and Latin and it is well recognized as the official language in some countries of the ancient world.
