The Chief Investigator at the Tobruk Criminal Investigation Office, Hamdin Al-Kahashi, said an armed group attacked the Foods Control office in the city and fired random gunshots inside it, injuring one staffer, who is suffering serious injuries in Tobruk Medical Center.

Al-Kahashi added Thursday that when a force from the security department was sent to arrest them, the armed group had already fled the scene, pointing out that investigation is underway to eventually bring them down.

“The reason behind the armed group’s attack is that when the owners of importing companies came to ask about the final results for the validity of their goods, the head of the quarantine section told them that the specimens were sent to Tripoli and will be back in few days, however, they chose to use physical abuse on the staffers.” He said.

Meanwhile, the Food Control office had issued a decision prohibiting a number of goods and foods from entering the country over failing to match Libya’s nutrition standards and over containing substances harmful to human beings.
