A gang of foreign workers were arrested in Benghazi for their involvement in the falsification of documents and passports, the Investigation Department of Benghazi security Directorate confirmed.

The Investigation Department clarified that it conducted a raid on a house in Al-Birka area, inhabited by a group of migrants of African nationals, after receiving information regarding the high number of visitors attending the place, which arouse suspicion among neighbours over the activity of the people residing the house.

The department explained that the operation resulted in the arrest of a number of people carrying African nationalities, as well as the seizure of tools and equipment for counterfeiting use, including computers and a colour printer, in addition to hard disks containing programs for forging official documents, passports, and health certificates.

It also noted that it seized around 34 forged passports of African nationalities prepared for illegal entry to the country.

The department pointed out that the raid was carried out after obtaining permission from the Public Prosecution, noting that the necessary legal measures have been taken regarding the incident.
