A Bangladeshi nurse has been found dead in Benghazi on Wednesday, local media sources have reported.

The woman, whose name was not disclosed, was brutally stabbed to death in her flat in Taballino district. The Bangladeshi nurse was working in Ibn Sina Polyclinic, one of the Libyan Red Crescent's health institutions.

Sources said the nurse did not show up for work for days and her mobile phone was switched off. However, when her colleagues decided to visit her at home, they found her stabbed to death.

Authorities in Benghazi did not report about the heinous crime, but the sources claimed the woman was first gang-raped by so-called Sahawat and later they stabbed her to death before robbing her flat.

No official statement was released from Ibn Sina Polyclinic.
