UN disappointed by suspension of Libyan constitutional talks

The UN spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, said in a UN briefing on Tuesday that the UN can only be disappointed by the fact that the various Libyan factions failed to come to an agreement for the sake of people of their own country, and for the sake of the millions who registered to vote and wanted to be able to express their political opinions freely.

The Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) and High Council of State (HCS) ended their third and final round of talks in Cairo on Monday without agreeing on all differences.

Dbeibah: Elections are the sole option open for Libyans

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah has reiterated that elections are the sole option available for Libyans, hoping that the Spanish and European efforts in support of the UN mission in Libya would lead to a constitutional base to serve as a foundation for the long-awaited elections.

Dbeibah's comments came during a meeting with the Spanish ambassador to Libya, Javier Larrache, at his office on Tuesday.

Turkish Parliament votes to extend military mission in Libya

The Turkish Parliament voted on Tuesday in favour of extending the deployment of Turkish forces in Libya by 18 months, following a request by President Tayyip Erdogan.

The Turkish forces were deployed to Libya as part of a military cooperation agreement concluded between Turkey and Libya's previous Government of National Accord (GNA) in 2019 during Khalifa Haftar's aggression on Tripoli.

Libyan cargo plane in Ukraine hit by shrapnel

The Libyan Ambassador to Ukraine, Adel Issa, has confirmed that the jumbo-sized cargo jet "Antonov 100-124" belonging to the Libyan Air Cargo Company has been hit by small shrapnel in Ukraine.

In a post on Facebook, Issa mentioned a meeting with the Antonov company management in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, during the past few days to assess the damage and follow up on the incident.
