Dbeibah: There is no alternative for elections in Libya

There is no other path than going to genuine parliamentary and presidential elections in Libya, says Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah.

Addressing an audience of ministers, politicians, and activists at an event to celebrate the Eid in his hometown in Misrata on Monday, Dbeibah stressed that conditions for holding elections are available, including the voting laws.

The PM-designate of the east-based House of Representatives, Fathi Bashagha, has said there is no truth in the article published by the British Times newspaper on Tuesday.

In an article written in his name, The Times quoted Bashagha as saying that he is ready to work with Britain if the latter needs a partner in Africa to resist Russia, insisting that his government would be the appropriate choice.

Algeria’s recognition of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdul Hamid Dbeibah is an interference in the internal affairs of Libya, says the head of the foreign affairs committee of the east-based House of Representatives (HoR), Youssef Al-Aqouri.

Following Dbeibah's visit to Algeria on April 18, Tebboune underscored in an interview with a local media outlet that his country supports the GNU, insisting that changing the existing government in Libya should be done through elections.
