US Defense Department confirms involvement of Libyan mercenaries in Russia-Ukraine war

The United States (US) Department of Defense said Russia’s Wagner Group had recruited mercenaries from Libya and Syria to fight for Moscow in Ukraine.

A top US Defense Official said he couldn't give an accurate number or location of the mercenaries, adding that there were no further details about Russia’s recruits.

Gununu: There can be no solution in Libya in the presence of Haftar

The spokesman for the Libyan Army Mohammed Gununu said there can be no solution to the Libyan crisis that involves Khalifa Haftar, urging for holding Haftar accountable for the crimes he had committed.

Speaking at an event to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the launching of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous Operation that defeated ISIS in Libya’s Sirte, Gununu said all those involved in the aggression on Tripoli and west Libya cities, especially “war criminal Haftar”,  should be held accountable within any solution track.

Oil exports halted once again after temporary resumption in Zueitina port

Oil and Gas Minister Mohammed Oun told reporters that exports and operations at Zueitina port were halted again on Saturday after a brief resumption of exports aboard two tankers last week for fear of environmental disaster that would affect pipelines and storage tanks following the shutdown of the port by protesters since April.

Oun added that there were stoppages at Abu Al-Tafel and Al-Rimal oilfields as well as part of Al-Sarir oilfield, saying operations were halted due to shutdown of exports.

Dbeibah pays tribute to martyrs of Al-Bunyan al-Marsous operation on 6th anniversary

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah has praised the "sacrifices" made by the Al-Bunyan al-Marsous force in their war against the extremist ISIS group.

The PM's remarks came in a tweet Thursday to mark the launching of "Operation Al-Bunyan al-Marsous," which defeated and drove out ISIS from Sirte six years ago.

He said what they presented will remain a national epic that embodies courage and love for the homeland.

In coordination with Libyan authorities, Turkish navy rescues 17 migrants off Misrata

A group of 17 immigrants were picked up safely from off the coast of Misrata on Thursday, the Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces confirmed on Friday.

In coordination with the Libyan Coast Guard, the Turkish navy carried out a rescue operation involving 17 migrants of Asian nationalities, who were stranded at sea northwest of Misrata, Libya's naval force said on Facebook Friday.

It confirmed that the rescued migrants were disembarked at the Khums Naval Base.

Bashagha's govt presents 94 billion LYD budget for 2022

The parallel government headed by former interior minister Fathi Bashagha has proposed 94 billion Libyan dinars ($20 billion) in their draft budget for 2022.

"The draft budget for the fiscal year 2022 was presented, discussed, and delivered during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Fathi Bashagha on Thursday," the latter's minister of planning and finance Osama Saad said.

He noted that the draft will be forwarded to the House of Representatives for approval in the form of a general budget law.
