HoR Speaker vows to reopen oil fields after setting up fair distribution mechanism

The Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh said oil ports and fields will resume operations after setting up a mechanism for fair distribution of revenues to the three Libyan regions (Tripoli, Cyrenaica and Fezzan).

These remarks came during a meeting between Saleh and the US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, according to a statement by the HoR.

Lawyers for the Crown Estate of Queen Elizabeth II have reportedly turned down the request to return 'stolen' artefacts from the ancient Roman settlement of Leptis Magna in president-day Libya, despite a campaign of a British-Libyan lawyer, The National News has reported.

A London-based Libyan-British lawyer, Mohamed ben Shaban, submitted an official request last month to the Crown Estate of Queen Elizabeth II, asking for columns from the ancient Roman settlement of Leptis Magna in Libya to be returned.

Dbeibah launches construction of “Exhibitions City” in Tripoli

The Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibha, said his government is working to launch the construction of an “Exhibitions City” to be a trade landmark that develops Libya and adds beauty to the capital’s scenery.

Al-Ahly Tripoli lost their match against the South African Orlando Pirates in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup semifinals at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Benghazi on Sunday.

The 2015 runners-up Orlando Pirates won by a score of 2-0, thanks to an eighth-minute goal from Innocent Maela and another from Goodman Mosele in the 29th minute of the first half.

Lawyers of Libyan families who are suing Khalifa Haftar in US courts for allegedly committing war crimes and torture in Libya intend to ask the court to issue a verdict in absentia and convict Haftar after the latter refused to attend an interrogation session on Monday.

The head of the Democracy and Human Rights Foundation Emadeddin Muntasser said on Sunday that Haftar will not attend the interrogation session scheduled for Monday, May 9 in the federal court in Virginia.
