Uganda’s Kampala High Court has directed “Tropical Bank” to unfreeze four bank accounts owned by the Tripoli-headquartered World Islamic Call Society (WICS), branding the actions as being unlawful and a violation of WICS’s rights.

Daily Monitor newspaper in Uganda said the actions of the defendant (Tropical Bank) are a total breach of contract between the plaintiff (WICS) and defendant rotating around the bank-customer relationship

LCFP condemns killing of Shireen Abu Akleh

The Libyan Center for Freedom of Press has denounced the assassination of the Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh by the Israeli forces.

The 51-years-old was shot to death by the Israeli army while covering the raid on the West Bank's Jenin refugee camp early Wednesday.

In a statement, Libya's freedom press centre described the killing of Abu Akleh as a "heinous and cowardly crime", saying it was among the methodology followed by the Zionist occupation to target journalists in Palestine.

Multi-stakeholder partnership offers 7,000 job opportunities to Libyan youth

More than 7,000 young people in Libya will benefit from an initiative launched by NGO Spark, the Islamic Development Fund  (IsDB), and the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD), in partnership with Libyan stakeholders aimed at integrating the youth, including women into sustainable development.

In a press release, spark said 20 per cent of young people aged 15-24 are unemployed in Libya, compared with the global average of 13 percent.

The UN Secretary General's Advisor on Libya, Stephanie Williams, said she had a fruitful meeting Wednesday with the Libyan Attorney General and Deputy President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Al-Siddiq Al-Sour.

Williams added on her Twitter account that they had discussed a number of issues, including the Tarhouna investigations, the new campaign of arrests directed at civil society representatives, the appointment of new judges to the Supreme Court, and the Public Prosecution’s efforts to clear the National ID system.

Minister of Economy and Trade Muhammad Al-Hawij has assigned a group of specialists to prepare a food security strategy to help the country confront the food crisis gripping the world in the wake of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

The team comprises the heads of the Economic and Social Development Council, the Public Investment Promotion Authority, and the private sector development, investment, and internal trade offices in the ministry.
