LCW decries detention of lawyer in Benghazi

Libyan Crimes Watch (LCW) has condemned the kidnapping of lawyer Adnan Al-Arfi in Benghazi.

Al-Arfi was abducted by a militia affiliated with Khalifa Haftar for filing corruption cases against the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Ali Al-Hibri, backed by Haftar.

LCW said Al-Arfi was subjected to wrongful detention three times between 2017 and 2022.

It considered his arrest an abuse of the immunities enjoyed by lawyers according to Article No. 27 of Law No. 3 of 2014.

Mayor of Ghadames urges UNESCO to remove old city from list of threatened sites

The mayor of Ghadames Municipality has renewed his call for UNESCO to remove the old city of Ghadames from the list of threatened sites.

Qasim Al-Manea of Ghadames was addressing an audience at the second international scientific conference held in the city on Friday.

The conference was held under the supervision of the Ghadames Center for Research, Studies, and Heritage Documentation, with the participation of an array of researchers from various Libyan and international universities.

US supports temporary freezing of NOC revenues at LFB

Washington has reiterated support for the temporary freezing of oil revenues in the National Oil Corporation (NOC) account at the Libyan Foreign Bank until reaching an agreement on a revenue management mechanism.

A statement by the US Embassy in Libya Saturday said an agreement on a mechanism for transparent management of oil revenues is imperative for restoring Libya's oil production.

A unit of the Libyan Anti-Terrorism Force arrested on Saturday dawn in Bani Walid a man named Ashraf Al-Khazmi, who is a relative of a senior leader of ISIS Embarek Al-Khazmi that was detained by Joint Operations Force of the Government of National Unity on September 07 in Bani Walid as well in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, local sources have reported.

Williams briefs Tunisian Foreign Minister on UN efforts towards peace in Libya

The UN Special Adviser on Libya, Stephanie Williams said on Friday she briefed the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Othman Jerandi on efforts to advance the political process in Libya.

"During our meeting, I briefed him on my recent meetings with Libyan officials as well as my consultations with the international community," Williams wrote on Twitter.
