The Chairman of the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) Mustafa Sanallah discussed with a delegation from Total Energies consisting of Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Laurent Vivier, CEO of Total in Libya, Pascal Brent, and Manager of Assets Department - Total Libya Branch, Naseem Zouari, increasing rates of oil production and minimization of carbon emissions, as well as switching to renewable energies and the latest updates of the capacity-building programs of the oil sector.

Turkey calls on Libyan parties to avoid escalation

The Turkish National Security Council urged Wednesday all parties in Libya for restraint and refraining from steps that could cause new clashes.

Turkey urged as well the Libyan authorities to follow democratic processes on a basis of legitimacy for the achievement of lasting peace and stability, Reuters reported.

Local calls on Presidential Council to assume legislative authority, freeze HoR and HCS

The High Association of Unions, Syndicates, Assemblies, Councils, and Civil Society Groups called on the Libyan Presidential Council to freeze the House of Representatives (HoR) and High Council of State (HCS), urging the council to issue a presidential ordinance to carry out online referendum on the constitution draft within a specific timeline.

The Association said after conducting the constitutional referendum, the council should issue an ordinance for election laws and then holding elections before the end of 2022 summer.

Al-Nuwairi: Consultations continuing to name joint constitutional committee members

Consultations are on to nomination members for the joint constitutional committee to engage in talks with their counterparts in the High Council of State (HCS) in Tunisia, said the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Fawzi Al-Nuwairi on Wednesday.

He emphasized the need for balanced and parallel action on all tracks to achieve the desired goal.

Bashagha urges government institutions not to abide by unity government’s orders

The Libyan Prime Minister-designate, Fathi Bashagha, warned Tuesday in a statement all government institutions against implementing the orders of PM Abdul Hamid Dbiebah of the Government of National Unity.

Bashagha said the unity government is now a caretaker government whose legal mandate has ended, instructing government institutions not to take any legal and administrative measures for councils of administration at all government institutions, asking them to disregard all Dbiebah government's instructions.

Williams says will facilitate consensus between Libyan HoR and HCS

The UN Advisor on Libya, Stephanie Williams, said she was ready to facilitate consensus between the House of Representatives (HoR) and High Council of State (HCS), saying the HCS counterparts from the HoR are expected to join soon in the consultations in Tunisia, so as to be able to formally launch the work of the joint committee to determine the constitutional basis.
