Prime Minister of the government of national unity (GNU) Abdul Hamid Debaibah says he would only hand over power to an authority "elected by the people."

"We have contended with attempts to restart another war, and I will be the first to hand over the authority to the government after electing a parliament," Dbeibah told a group of candidates for the House of Representatives in Tripoli on Wednesday.

Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita has said that the greatest risk for Libya is an institutional vacuum.

In a joint press conference with his Maltese counterpart, Evarist Bartolo, Bourita stressed the need for Libyan institutions to continue their work.

Holding elections is the proper framework for resolving the issue of legitimacy and duplication of institutions, says Bourita, highlighting that it is a starting point for strengthening stability in Libya.

Two children killed in landmine explosion in Tripoli

Two children from one family were killed by a blast of a landmine planted near their house in Ain Zara, south Tripoli, according to a statement by the spokesman for the Emergency and Ambulance Apparatus, Osama Ali.

Mouad and Faida Abu Ras were playing outside their house in Ain Zara when a landmine exploded, killing the girl on the spot while the boy died later in the hospital.
