It is a small Libyan town located in western Libya within the administrative division of Nalut District. It is 550 km from Tripoli to the southwest and east of the city of Ghadames, on the outskirts of Hamada Al-Hamra.

The town is known for its agriculture, grazing, natural springs, folklore and local traditional industries based on leather, palm and wool products, as well as a number of Quranic schools.

The Libyan High National Elections Commission (HNEC) said Saturday it would take legal and judicial measures before announcing the final list of presidential candidates ahead of the December 24 vote.

The HNEC added that it would take some legal and judicial measures after communicating with the Supreme Judicial Council and committee formed by the House of Representatives (HoR) before announcing the final list of presidential candidates, saying media campaigns for candidates will happen also before announcing the list.

The Libyan Chief of General Staff, Mohammed Al-Haddad, met Saturday in Sirte with the Chief of Staff of Khalifa Haftar's forces, who is acting now as a General Commander in place of Haftar, Abdelrazik Al-Nathori for the first time.

The meeting in Sirte was held in the presence of a number of military officers from both sides.

The head of Turkey-Libya Business Council Murtaza Karanfil said they are planning to expand voyages between Libya and Turkey to include new destinations such as Istanbul, Muğla, Antalya and Bursa, for both tourism and trade purposes.

Commenting on the first voyage between Libyan city of Misrata and Turkey’s Izmir, Karanfil stated that everyone is very satisfied with the launch of the new sea line between both countries.

The Libyan government has sought permission to subpoena records from several major US banks due to alleged links to looting billions of dollars from Libya by its former dictator Mummar Al Qaddafi, Bloomberg writes.

In its filing Thursday in Manhattan federal court, the Libyan Asset Recovery and Management Office (LARMO) says that JPMorgan Chase & Co., Citigroup Inc., and six other large banks may have information about the money Qaddafi, his family, and associates stole.
