PFG: Negotiations to reopen Wafa field hit a dead end

The Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) has said that the negotiations with the armed group besieging the Wafa oilfield had come to a dead end.

A cluster of PFG members shut down four oil fields east of the country Last Monday and put forward several demands to the authorities.

The PFG media office said the group is demanding to receive bonuses and military numbers without joining qualification and training courses, which runs counter to the regulations of the PFG.

Egypt, Russia agree to work together on Libyan crisis

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday discussed in a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the existing situation in Libya.

The Egyptian presidency said, in a statement, that the discussions reflected a consensus on the importance of intensifying efforts and mutual coordination between Egypt and Russia to settle the Libyan crisis and achieve the desired aspirations of the Libyan people for a better future.

Spokeswoman: Libyan interim executive authority's term is 18 months

The spokeswoman for the Libyan Presidential Council, Najwa Wehebe, said the interim executive authority, including the Government of National Unity, hasn't finished its term that extends to 18 months since parliament confidence (March 2021) as per the third article of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum's roadmap and the visions of the European Union and the five countries' recent statements that called for keeping the current entities in place and for the resigned candidates to remain as such until elections are held.

27 bodies washed ashore eastern Tripoli

Around 17 bodies of irregular migrants, including a baby, have washed ashore in the Al-Alous area near Khums city east of Tripoli, the Libyan Red Crescent said on Saturday.

The Red Crescent of Khums branch said its teams have also retrieved ten bodies, including two women, from the same area and rescued three others in cooperation with the Libyan Coast Guard.

The organization posted images showing its workers handling the dead bodies and placing them in special bags.

Arab League calls on Libyan parties to commit to greater good of the country

The Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, called on Libyan parties to look for the interest of the whole country rather than pursuing narrow personal interests, adding that Libya is at a dangerous crossroad and all parties need to cooperate to hold elections that preserve the unity and sovereignty of the country.
