Libya receives new batch of AstraZeneca from Greece

Libya has received the second consignment of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine donated by Greece, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

The batch, containing 200,000 doses of the vaccine, arrived at the Maitiga International Airport, where the Head of the National Centre for Disease Control, Haydar Al-Sayeh, was there in person to receive it.

Al-Sayeh said that the new vaccine consignment would target those awaiting their second jab, noting that the vaccine will be delivered once approved by the regulating authorities.

The 5+5 Joint Military Committee (JMC) has called for the reorganization of the security and military organs, expressing concern that the current status could affect the committee's plans to remove the specter of war and restore security and stability.

Many security services have been granted powers or assigned overlapping functions that may undermine security and stability in the country, the committee said in a statement following a meeting in Sirte on Saturday.

Libya is seeking to boost its oil production from 1.3 million barrels per day to 1.5 million by the end of this year, says Minister of Oil and Gas Mohamed Oun.

The Oil and Gas minister indicated in an interview with Bloomberg published Monday that this would depend on the parliament's approval of the budget amendments for the year 2021, which, according to him, had politicians at odds for at least four months.
