Libya, Malta review facilitating visas granting and opening airspace

Libya and Malta discussed facilitating the granting of visas to Libyan citizens wishing to visit Malta, in addition to the importance of expediting the opening of the airspace between the two countries.

This came during a meeting with the Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Manqoush on Tuesday, with Malta's ambassador to Libya, Charles Saliba, at the ministry's headquarters in Tripoli, according to the media office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Libya's HoR approves bill that allows direct election of president by people

The spokesman for the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), Abdullah Blehiq, said an agreement was reached at the HoR on a bill that allows the Libyan people to directly elect their president, saying the bill was sent to the legislative and constitutional committee for a final draft.

The session of the HoR on Tuesday was interrupted and suspended for a while after badmouthing and fistfight by members who objected to the bill, which was later approved after resumption.

It is a town on the coast of the Al-Marj District in the Cyrenaica region of northeastern Libya. Today it is a coastal town 25 kilometres west of Al-Marj. It is about 70 km away from the city of Benghazi.

Juwaili: If some parties choose war, then war it is

The commander of Western Military Zone's Joint Operations Room, major general, Osama Juwaili, said there are signs of war and if any party thinks war is the best choice, "then war it is".

Juwaili rejected in a statement on Tuesday the letter of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) to the Presidential Council, Government of National Unity, and the UN Support Mission (UNSMIL), objecting to the demand of freezing military agreements and MoUs that were signed by the previous legitimate Government of National Accord (GNA).

Libyan elections' voter registration closed inside, opened abroad

The Head of the Libyan High National Elections Commission (HNEC) Emad Al-Sayeh said voter registration is going to be closed inside Libya by the end of Tuesday (August 17) and will be opened for Libyans abroad for 30 days to come, starting Wednesday.

Al-Sayeh said once elections legislations are delivered, candidacy requests will be accepted so that elections can be held on time next December, saying the timeline shall be reshuffled as the HNEC hasn't yet received the legislations.
