Amnesty International: Haftar punishes critics in sham military trials

Amnesty International said in a report on Monday that eastern Libyan military courts have sentenced at least 22 people to death and jailed hundreds more since 2018 in “sham, torture-tainted” trials to exert control.

Amnesty International indicated that military courts had convicted hundreds of civilians in eastern Libya in secret and grossly unfair military trials, which were “aimed at punishing real or perceived opponents and critics” of the forces loyal to eastern warlord Khalifa Haftar.

Sorting out sovereign positions' committee sends applications to HoR

The committee for sorting out sovereign positions' applications sent its final work to the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, after its deadline ended on Sunday.

The media office of the HoR reported the member of the committee, Abdelhadi Al-Saghir, as saying that the applications of the state sovereign positions, who met the requirements, will be sent from the HoR presidency to the High Council of State.

GNU calls off trip to Benghazi

The Government of National Unity (GNU) has decided to postpone its meeting scheduled to take place in Benghazi on Monday, provided that preparations for a later date will take place as soon as possible, the GNU Spokesman confirmed.

The GNU's decision came after Haftar's militia emphasized they will not allow the GNU cabinet ministers to enter the city.
