OCHA seeks around $ 189 million to address relief needs in Libya

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Libya is seeking $ 189 million to address relief and aid needs for about 450,000 people by the beginning of next year.

In its annual assessment, the office estimated that more than a million people require humanitarian services in Libya for the coming year, emphasizing that challenges are great and the resources scarce.

US companies look forward to rebuilding Libya's infrastructure and economy

The American Chamber of Commerce in Libya (AmCham Libya) hosted a virtual meeting with US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland and American companies on Tuesday to exchange views regarding the evolving political process in Libya and prospects for improving the business climate for US investment in Libya. 

The AmCham Libya said the American companies had expressed a strong desire to deploy their technical expertise and financial resources to help rebuild Libya’s infrastructure and economy.  

El Sonni urges Europe to support Libyan dialogues instead of "destructive competition"

The Libyan ambassador to the United Nations Taher El Sonni called on the European Union (EU) to unify their efforts in support of the ongoing Libyan dialogues away from "destructive competition that has been ongoing for years."

The remarks came Tuesday in a virtual meeting with the EU representatives at the UN, as El Sonni said the Government of National Accord (GNA) has been with dialogue for years and have tried to make them successful away from foreign intervention.

The First Secretary of the Italian Embassy has conducted a visit to the Antiquities Authority in Tripoli, where he was received by the head of the authority Dr. Muhammad Faraj al-Falous.​​

The two parties discussed, in the presence of the Director of the Projects Department and head of the International Cooperation and Information Office, cooperation in the fields of training, human capacity development, especially with regard to archiving, and the preservation of archaeological sites.
