The Libyan mission to the United Nations participated in the 31st Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic that took place on Thursday.

Libya's pre-recorded statement was given by Foreign Minister Muhammad Sayala, on behalf of Prime Minister Fayez Al-Sarraj.

The Libyan Revolutionaries Leadership Gathering has urged all Libyan authorities to work toward activating the role of the Libyan National Guard and providing the necessary support it would require.

In a statement Saturday, after a conference held in Al-Zawiya city, the Libyan Revolutionaries Leadership Gathering said the fighters had done their parts and it was time for them to be spared the marginalization by being integrated into the National Guard of the Government of National Accord.

Lavrov: Current calm in Libya achieved by Russia-Turkey coordination

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow had a very significant role in the current calm prevailing in Libya due to its coordination with Turkey.

Lavrov indicated at Rome Med 2020 - Mediterranean Dialogues - that saying Russia and Turkey are supporting opposing forces in the Libyan conflict would be an oversimplification, adding that it would be very stupid and wrongful to say Russia backs up Khalifa Haftar and Turkey supports Fayez Al-Sarraj.

The Libyan Foreign Ministry of the Government of National Accord (GNA) said the acting UN envoy Stephanie Williams was supposed to name things as they are when she talked about the war and attacks as well as foreign mercenaries and arms flow, saying she should have said the name of the party behind the attack on Tripoli in April 2019 when the UN Secretary General was present.

An unexploded ordnances on Friday killed one person and wounded another in the city of Tarhouna southeast of Tripoli, a source from the city has confirmed.

The unexploded shell was found on a farm belonging to a family that fled to Tripoli during the recent war waged by warlord Khalifa Haftar.

Tarhouna, which was recaptured in June by the internationally recognized Government of National Accord (GNA), was in the hands of the Kaniyat militia run by the local Kani family, which fought alongside Khalifa Haftar’s militias.
