Libya's Central Bank full board holds meeting for first time in 6 years

The board of directors of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) held Monday a full-quorum meeting for the first time in six years to discuss fixing exchange rates of the Libyan dinar to foreign currencies.

The CBL said the preliminary meeting aimed to activate the role of the board as per the law and discussed stability of prices and support to the banking system.

The Libyan Defense Minister Salah Al-Namroush has warned UNSMIL and countries supporting peace dialogues in Libya that the Libyan Army under the command of the Government of National Accord (GNA) could withdraw from the 5+5 joint commission's ceasefire agreement if violations from Khalifa Haftar’s forces continued.

"If Haftar was to carry out any military act, the ceasefire agreement will be immediately considered null and void." Al-Namroush said in a statement Monday.

Libyan Al-Nasr on Sunday lost to Algerian Chabab Riadhi de Belouizdad, 2-0, at Petro Sport Stadium in the Egyptian capital Cairo, in the second leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, which means an early exit for Al-Nasser from the competition.

 The Algerian Shaib Kaddad scored the first goal early in the first half of the game to give his team a 1-0 lead, before Libyan Al-Nasser defender scored a goal in his teams' net just before the whistle blow, helping the Algerian team cruise to its win.

Al-Namroush: We did not liberate Sirte from ISIS to hand it over to criminals

The Minister of Defence, Salah al-Din al-Namroush, has underscored that the Libyan army did not liberate Sirte from the ISIS terrorist group to hand it over to the mercenaries and criminals.

His remarks came yesterday, to mark the fourth anniversary of the liberation of the city of Sirte from the extremist organization at the hands of "Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous" forces, affiliated with the internationally recognized Government of National Accord (GNA).

UK ambassador to Libya says ready to help in demining efforts

The ambassador of the United Kingdom (UK) Nicholas Hopton said Britain was ready to assist Libya in clearing mines and DNA tests to identify the victims of the war on Tripoli, a statement by the Defense Ministry said.

Hopton and Libyan Defense Minister Salah Al-Namroush met Sunday in Tripoli and agreed to boost joint cooperation between the Libyan and British Defense Ministries.
