The Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) has allocated 10 million dinars to Al-Bayda city to respond to the floods and compensate for the damages following the heavy rain that has ravaged the city since Friday.
The Presidential Council said the money aims to help the city provide urgent compensations to the people who suffered damages in the heavy rain floods.
The UN mission said that it had noted with great concern that between 1 and 5 November, a number of individuals from the east who travelled to Tripoli were arbitrarily arrested by armed groups.
“At least one person was followed to his destination in Tripoli and then arrested, others were allegedly arrested at the airport upon arrival.” UNSMIL remarked in a sattement on Sunday.
The former speaker of the General National Congress and Leader of the Ya Baladi Party, Nuri Abu Sahmain, said on Saturday that he had received an offer to be a member of the new Presidential Council for the western region, pointing out that the UN Mission contacted him before April 04, 2019 to attend the Ghadames conference.
The Interior Minister of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) Fathi Bashagha said the body of Mabrouk Khalaf; the former director of information and follow-up office at the Ministry, was found in a mass grave in Tarhouna.
Bashagha said on Twitter that Brigadier General Mabrouk was killed by Al-Kani militia and was found in a mass grave in Tarhouna, stressing the need for local and international accountability for the "gang of Al-Kani for their heinous crimes and terrorist acts."
The UN acting envoy to Libya Stephanie Williams said the participants of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum arrived Saturday in Tunisia ahead of Monday meeting.
Williams told Libya Alahrar TV that the meeting in Tunis will be under the umbrella of the UN resolutions and Berlin Conference conclusions, which are the basis for the ongoing UNSMIL-facilitated tracks.
The US embassy in Libya said in a statement Friday that while the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum "prepares to get underway in Tunis", ambassador Richard Norland spoke with Foreign Minister Mohammed Sayala to convey the US embassy’s intention to begin formal consultations with Libyan authorities on the lengthy process to secure property in Tripoli to facilitate long-term American diplomatic engagements in Libya.
