The Acting Minister of Education, Mohamed Amari Zayed, participated on Saturday in the 17th annual virtual meeting of the Science and Technology Forum, entitled "The 17th session of the round table meeting of science and technology ministers", held in the Japanese city of Kyoto.

In his speech at the conference, Amari Zayed briefed his colleagues on the Libyan experience in addressing the Coronavirus pandemic and the measures taken in this regard.

UN registers Libya's maritime agreement with Turkey

The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has registered the Turkey-Libya Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the delimitation of maritime jurisdiction areas in the Mediterranean.

The spokesman for the Libyan Foreign Ministry Mohammed Al-Giblawi said the MoU was registered by the UN officially and so did the Turkish Defense Ministry. 

Libyan Dialogue resumes second round in Bouznika

The Libyan Dialogue’s second round between the delegations of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State kicked off on Friday after being delayed three times over the last month.

According to Maghreb Arabe Presse, the Libyan parties met Friday evening as part of the second rounds of the Libyan Dialogue that was hosted by Bouzinka, Morocco, under the auspices of the UNSMIL.

Istanbul gears up for hosting Libyan-Turkish Trade Platform mid-October

Istanbul is to host the Libyan-Turkish Trade Platform on 15 and 16 October, under the supervision of the Libyan General Union of Chambers of Commerce (GUCC), in cooperation with the Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK).

The Libyan delegation includes representatives of 200 Libyan governmental and non-governmental institutions in the field of economy, including Libyan telecommunications companies, electricity, economic and social development funds, high-level infrastructure development firms, and others.

Security Council extends permission to inspect ships off the coast of Libya

The UN Security Council unanimously agreed on Friday to extend a resolution that authorizes European countries to intercept vessels suspected of smuggling migrants from Libya.

Resolution 2546 proposed by Germany, provided for the extension for an additional period of 12 months, starting from Friday to end on October 2, 2021.

The resolution requests the UN Secretary-General to report to the members of the Council on the implementation of this resolution.
