Afriqiyah Airways sets date for resumption of flights between Tripoli and Benghazi

Afriqiyah Airways is to resume domestic flights between Mitiga Airport in Tripoli and Benina Airports in Benghazi city on the 23rd of October, a statement by the company said on Wednesday.

The company clarified it would conduct two flights per week, while a special trip will be operated on the 16th of this month, to mark the reopening of the direct air route of commercial flights between the capital and Benghazi.

The Minister of Health of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Khalifa Al-Bakoush said in a press conference Tuesday that "PCR" tests for Covid-19 are costing an arms and a leg, draining state funds as each single test costs (200 US dollars), as he claimed.

The Health Minister added, in the presser that was intended to detail the current epidemiological situation in Libya that they are doing 4500 tests a day and are planning to increase the number in the coming days.

The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has welcomed the October 11 appointment of five women judges who will work in two new specialized courts in Benghazi and Tripoli dedicated to hearing cases of violence against women and children.

UNSMIL said in a statement Tuesday that the establishment of these two courts, coupled with the appointment of five women judges, represents a significant step towards advancing the rights of women and children in Libya.

Street gang attacks security patrol in Benghazi

A street gang in the Hafatr-controlled Benghazi attacked a security patrol while it was carrying out its duty on Sunday night, a source from the city reported.

The source, who preferred to stay anonymous, clarified that the mobsters opened fire at the patrol and shot the head of the detective division of the Criminal Investigation Department, causing injuries to both his left and right legs.
