PC forms security room to secure electric power facilities

Chairman of the Presidential Council (PC), Fayez Al-Sarraj has agreed with the military leaders, security officials, and the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) to form a security chamber from the meeting parties to provide protection for all electric power facilities, starting from Wednesday.

Around 106 civilians were killed and 252 injured between April 1 to June 30, 2020, as a result of the armed conflict in Libya, according to a report by the United Nation Support Mission (UNSMIL) in Libya.

The report which was published on Wednesday on the UNSMIL website, called on all parties to the conflict to immediately halt all military operations, respect international human rights law and international humanitarian law, protect civilians, and allow the authorities to confront the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic.

PC imposes complete lockdown during Eid days

The Presidential Council (PC) imposed a total curfew around the clock, for a period of 5 days, starting from 4 pm on Friday, with an aim to tackle the growing spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.

The decision stipulates for the complete lockdown of all cities, the prevention of movement in-between, and the banning of large gatherings, especially in the seaside resorts and parks.

Akar: We want to see stability and unity in Libya

Turkish Defense Minister, Hulusi Akar, said that Turkey is doing its utmost to help its Libyan brothers, in order to bring about a ceasefire, stability and territorial integrity in Libya.

Akar's remarks came during a special ceremony organized by the Ministry of Defense on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, on Wednesday.

During his speech, he stressed the brotherhood links between the two countries. "We maintain historic cooperative ties with our Libyan brothers since 500 years," he said.
