Erdogan: Turkey will implement all elements of the agreement with Libya

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in his New Year's address that with support to the legitimate Tripoli government, Turkey will ensure implementation of all elements of agreements with Libya.

Erdogan explained Tuesday that the project to exclude Turkey from the Mediterranean had been foiled with the latest steps Ankara has taken, referring to signing two MoUs with Libya.

Haftar's backers fail to reach an Arab League condemnation of Libya-Turkey agreement

Egypt and other countries supporting Khalifa Haftar have failed to get the Arab League to issue a statement condemning Libya-Turkey MoUs or calling for Withdrawing legitimacy from the Libyan Presidential Council's government.

On Tuesday, the Arab League said political solution is the only way Libya can regain its stability and security, rejecting foreign intervention and urging all parties to persevere the country's sovereignty.

UN envoy to Le Monde: Multinational mercenaries are fighting for Haftar in Libya

The UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame has told French newspaper Le Monde that the UNSMIL has documented intensified non-Libyan drone activity in the Libyan airspace recently.

Salame, in an interview on Monday, indicated that there are also several planes coming frequently from Syria to Benghazi, adding that the UNSMIL doesn't know what was on those planes.

Turkish Parliament receives bill to deploy troops to Libya

The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament called on the General Assembly to convene in an emergency meeting on January 02 to vote on a motion to deploy Turkish troops to Libya.

The Speaker said Monday that the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's office had sent the motion to the Parliament for approval.

This move was preceded by statements by Turkish Justice and Development Party officials and the Foreign Minister Mavlut Çavuşoğlu, who told reporters Monday that the deployment motion was sent to the Parliament.

Lavrov says Russia concerned about proposed no-fly zone in Libya

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed concerns over proposals of a no-fly zone in Libya, adding on Monday that halting clashes with no preconditions in the country would be a good foundation for political dialogue.

Lavrov said Libyans need a ceasefire and a comprehensive dialogue to reach a solution acceptable to all parties.
