The Libyan Interior Ministry said Wednesday that the UN envoy Ghassan Salame had provided misinformation and fallacies about the conflict in Tripoli in his recent briefing at the Security Council.

The Interior Ministry said Salame gave untrue account when he referred to the arrest of the head of medicine and food control center Mohammed Al-Mashai in his account of the kidnapping of the member of House of Representatives Siham Sirgiwa, which showed him making equal the two incidents - humanitarian-wise and legal-wise.

NOC reinstates force majeure on Libya's largest oilfield "Sharara"

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced Wednesday reinstatement of force majeure on crude oil loadings at Al-Zawiya port starting on Tuesday, July 30, it said in a statement.

The NOC added that this decision was prompted by a new illegal Sharara pipeline valve closure halting crude oil supply from Sharara to the port.

"This is the second illegal valve closure and breach of pipeline security by unidentified perpetrators in the last ten days." The statement reads.

UN envoy to Libya scolded by government officials of "misinforming" Security Council

The Libyan Presidential Council's Head Fayez Al-Sarraj has summoned the UN envoy to the country, Ghassan Salame, and complained about the misinformation provided by him at the Security Council last Monday.

Likewise, the Libyan High Council of State (HCS) said it was preparing a letter to respond to the statement of Salame at the Security Council, saying it will be sent to the Secretary General and member states in order to mark out the misinformation about the current conflict in Libya given by Salame last Monday.

Italy’s Salvini calls for an end to Haftar’s attack on Tripoli

Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha and his Italian counterpart Matteo Salvini held talks over the telephone on Tuesday to discuss Libya’s current situations.

The media office of Libyan Interior Ministry said Salvini hailed the efforts of the Government of National Accord to repel the aggression launched by Haftar and his militia groups against Tripoli.

He stressed that the attack on the capital must stop and that the countries that intervene in the Libyan file must halt this intervention for the stability of Libya.

Sarraj receives Italian ambassador to discuss relations

Chairman of Presidential Council Fayez Sarraj received in his office in Tripoli Italian Ambassador Giuseppe Grimaldi on Tuesday.

The meeting reviewed the latest military and security situations in Libya and the joint cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Grimaldi reiterated his country's support for the Government of National Accord and rejection of the aggression on Tripoli that poses a threat to the lives of civilians.

Libya: Burdened with crimes and robbery, Haftar's sons drop family surname

Khalifa Haftar's sons, Saddam and Belgasim Haftar, have dropped their surname "Haftar" from their family's civil registry at the Libyan National Identification Number System.

The surname "Haftar" was replaced with "Omar" so the two would be called from now on Saddam and Belgasim Khalifa BelgasimOmar.

This move has been deplored by the Libyan Interior Ministry of the Presidential Council's government as Minister Fathi Bashagha ordered investigations into this surname change.

Presidential Council orders tax cut on official dollar exchange rate

Chairman of Presidential Council Fayez Sarraj on Tuesday signed a new order cutting taxes on official dollar rates from %183 to %163.

The new order sees $1 dollar becoming worth around LYD 3.65 at the official bank rates. Before the order, $1 dollar was worth LYD 3.90 Libyan dinars.

The tax cut has affected the parallel market where the dollar rate fell from LYD 4:55 to LYD 4:09 at the end of the daily trading.

Juwaili: Possible foreign-countries-backed attack by Haftar's forces will be repelled

The commander of the Libyan Army's joint operations room and western military zone General Osama Juwaili said Libyan Army forces had taken measures to repel possible air raids on Tripoli by foreign parties backing up Khalifa Haftar's forces.

In a televised interview posted on Burkan Al-Ghadab (Volcano of Rage) Operation's Facebook page, Juwaili said they had received intelligence about airstrikes on Tripoli by "foreign parties" and said there will be unexpected consequences for their response to such attacks.
