A drone belonging to warlord Khalifa Haftar’s UAE-backed air force struck Mitiga Airport, the only functioning airport in Tripoli, in the early hours of Thursday.
Haftar’s media office claimed they destroyed a Turkish drone attacking their forces, but an airport source said the airstrike hit an old MiG fighter in the military section of the airport.
Flights were not affected.
Heavy rains hit the city of Ghat south-west of Libya, near the Algerian border, last Monday, sweeping away entire neighbourhoods, closing roads, and causing power and communication breakdown in most parts of the region.
Ghat Municipal Council of Ghat sent a distress call to the authorities and local and international organizations in order to provide urgent assistance to the victims of the floodings, declaring the city a disaster at all levels.
The Chairman of the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) Mustafa Sanallah told reporters on Monday that the parallel NOC in eastern Libya did not stop attempts to illicitly sell oil, saying he has evidence.
Sanallah explained that they are tracking the desperate attempts by the parallel NOC to sell oil to very small firms that want to sell the oil for less than that official price, saying the NOC in Tripoli has gotten evidence and has given it to Public Prosecutor's Office and UN Sanctions Committee.
An official source in Al-Jufra reported that a group of gunmen had attacked a checkpoint in Fuqahaa town on Monday dawn, causing no casualties.
The source added that the gunmen are linked to the armed group that attacked and killed Commercial Bank representatives in Al-Jadeed area in Sabha, few days ago.
The Libyan Scholars Association (LSA) has called for dismissing the Head of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Authority Ahmeda Al-Abani from his post for his negative influence on battles and abandoning providing support for fighters through the official religious establishment.
The LSA added in a final statement after a meeting on Monday that the Presidential Council's government should form a mini government made up from national figures that can level up to the sacrifices made by the defenders of Tripoli.
