The ministerial meeting of Libya's neighboring countries kicked off Thursday in Sudan's capital Khartoum with the aim to end the current political deadlock in the country.

Attendees have all voiced commitment to support Libya to reach stability and security by an accord among all of the conflicting parties, stressing the need for national reconciliation.

Two persons arrested for attempted murder against former Tripoli security chief

The Tripoli-based Special Deterrence Force (SDF) has arrested two persons responsible for the the former chief of Tripoli security department.

The SDF said Wednesday that the criminals who opened fire on Salah Samouie had been placed in custody, naming them as Ayman Zaidan and Ayman Abu Kharis.

China says its firms will return to Libya once security status improves

The Chinese Charge d'Affaires in Libya, Wang Qimin, said his country's companies will return to Libya once the security status in the country permits.

These remarks came in a meeting on Wednesday with the deputy head of the Presidential Council, Abdelsalam Kajman, to discuss mutual relations between China and Libya.

Education Minister discusses with French Ambassador reintroducing French language in schools

The Ministry of Education of the Presidential Council (PC) has agreed with the Ambassador of France to Libya, Béatrice Le Fraper du Hellen to train and prepare 120 teachers for teaching French.

The Minister of Education Osman Abdul Jalil discussed with the French Ambassador the training program and ways to drive sustainable development in the education sector.

They also discussed introducing the French language in secondary schools as a first stage, according to the ministry's website.

Activists demand Saudi authorities to release Libyan detainees

Libyan activists held a stand outside the Saudi embassy in London on Tuesday, to demand the release of three Libyans who were detained at Jeddah airport last year after performing Umrah.

The protesters voiced their concern about the fate of the detainees, especially after the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, raising banners demanding Saudi Arabia to clarify the fate of the three Libyans.
