Arms entries to Tripoli banned, unlicensed weapons to be withdrawn, Presidential Guard decides

The Chief of the Presidential Guard, Najmi Al-Nakowa, has announced a ban on entering Tripoli with light and heavy weapons, saying all unlicensed weapons will be collected by the relevant authorities in Tripoli, Libyan News Agency (LANA) in Tripoli reported.

The decision came in an expanded security meeting of the Joint Operations Room in Mitiga Airbase in Tripoli with many military and security officials from west Libya present.

Water crisis looms in Tobruk, residents threaten to close oil port

Frustrated Tobruk residents, east Libya, protested on Sunday in the Martyrs’ Square in the center of the city, demanding the House of Representatives and the fragile interim government of Abdullah Al-Thanni to intervene urgently to save the city from thirst as a consequence of the impending closure of the seawater desalination plant.

The protesters threatened to escalate their protests that would include disruption of oil exports from Marsa Al-Hariga oil terminal if their demands are not met. 

Civil Status Department officials abducted in east Libya

The director of Civil Status Department for the Green Mountain region in east Libya and a colleague have been abducted, local sources reported.

Mohammed Al-Ahmir together with the head of ID system office were snatched by a group of militias at Al-Abraq Airport in Bayda on Monday after conducting a working visit to Tripoli.

Their whereabouts is still unknown.

Libyan Businessmen Council doubts Italy’s Aeneas

Libyan Businessmen Council (LBC) has raised doubts about the Italian consortium Aeneas, which was granted a multimillion contract to rebuild Tripoli International Airport.

In a letter to the head of Audit Bureau, the LBC said the contract constitutes an explicit violation of local laws regulating such projects.

The LBC added the deal is not clear, especially that the contract was signed suddenly without prior discussion over its terms.

Bestial video shows Libyan eastern executioner Al-Werfalli conducting summary execution of captives

An IS-styled video was published on Sunday on social media showing the notorious Captain at the Special Force of Dignity Operation, Mahmoud Al-Werfalli, conducting a summary execution of about 20 captives in Benghazi.

Al-Werfalli appears in the video standing on the side with about 20 men in orange suits blindfoldedly sitting on the ground on their knees awaiting gunshots by the firing squad.
