Military officer murdered in revenge attack in Libyan capital

Head of Wadi Al-Shatii Military Council, southwest of Libya, Colonel Bashir Awaidat Hasnawi and his daughter have been shot dead in Ain Zara district of Tripoli on Friday, in what seems to be a revenge attack.

Eyewitnesses stated that colonel Hasnawi fell under a shower of bullets that struck both him and his daughter after a car blocked the two from entering their home before Maghreb prayer, the time of breaking the fast; it was then that armed assailants lowered the car windows and opened fire on them.

Libyan Football Federation holds Libyan Soccer League draw

The Libyan Soccer League draw for the season 2017-2018 took place on Friday under the supervision of the Libyan Football Federation (LFF).

The draw was supposed to take place last week but upon calls from eastern Libyan sports clubs - requesting dividing the groups as per districts to become two groups in the west and two in the east - it was delayed for yesterday after the LFF agreed to proceed with the proposal.

Nalut town deplores Egyptian intervention in Libya

The Municipal, Military and Shura Council, in addition to the Union of Civil Society Organizations of Nalut, western Libya, have condemned the constant bombardment of civilians and residential districts by the Egyptian military warplanes and the Egyptian Intelligence Agency violation of Libyan sovereignty.

In a joint statement, they also condemned what they characterized as "complicit actors" with the Egyptian government on the pretext of fighting terrorism.

Benghazi Defense Brigades say they are ready to disband group

Senior commanders of Benghazi Defense Brigades (BDB) said on Friday the group is ready to dissolve, but they stressed their right to return to their city.

In a statement read by the top commander, Brig Mustafa Al-Shirksi, the BDB indicated that their intention to dissolve aims to spare the country the woes of international war.

According to the statement, the dissolution also aims to alleviate the suffering of Libyan people in general and Benghazi IDPs in particular.

Libya’s Amazigh intend to declare a military council

Military officers from the Amazigh community in western Libya are planning to declare a military council for Libyan Amazigh, Fassato news website quoted a military source as saying.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source told the Amazigh news outlet on Thursday that the move comes in response to “the policy of exclusion and marginalization practiced by the Presidential Council and its government towards the Amazigh in Libya.”
