Libyan Center for Freedom of Press condemns restrictions on journalists in Tripoli

The Libyan Center for Freedom of Press (LCFP) issued a statement on Tuesday condemning the prohibition of certain media outlets from covering the Edi Al-Fitr prayer at Tripoli Martyrs Square on Sunday.

The LCFP slammed personnel of the Tripoli National Security Department of the UN-proposed government's Interior Ministry for obstructing cameramen and preventing them from filming the Eid prayer.

One person was killed and five others wounded in tribal clashes that broke out in the southern Libyan city of Sabha in the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.

Local sources said gunmen from Tabu tribe exchanged fire with Gadadfa tribesmen in the City Center Street in Hai Mahdia district at around 1.00 am on Sunday while people were shopping for Eid, causing panic among the shoppers.

Saudi Arabia detains two Libyan military commanders performing Umrah in Mecca

Authorities in Saudi Arabia detained two senior military commanders from the Libyan city of Al-Zawiya, western region, on Sunday.

Sources from the city said Mahmud Ben Rajab and Mohammed Al-Khadrawi were detained at the airport while returning home after performing Umrah in Mecca in Ramadan.

Mahmud Ben Rajab is a police lieutenant and Al-Khadrawi is a police captain, both work for the Central Security Agency in the city.
