Tobruk parliament forms new dialogue team

Tobruk-based House of Representatives (HoR) has selected a 24-member team to engage in the forthcoming political talks aimed at resolving the country’s political stalemate.

The new team, picked by the presidency office of the parliament, is headed by Abdul-Salam Nasiya, an MP representing the western mountain town of Zintan.

According to the formation decree, the team should abide by “the national constants” stated in HoR resolution No. 4 for 2017.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) Al-Sidiq Al-Kabeer, has attributed the falling of the dinar's value against foreign currencies to the current political division, which also badly influenced the banking system as a whole.

In a press conference and a follow-up statement on the CBL's website Sunday, Al-Kabeer said the CBL will not stand idly by and allow the current war on the Libyan dinar to rage on, adding that the CBL will intervene with a group of powerful actions.

Tunisia endeavors to bring home children stuck in Libya

The Tunisian foreign ministry is putting some diplomatic efforts to return 24 children who were born to IS militants that got killed in Sirte and Sabratha, sources from the ministry said.

The 24 children are split into a prison in Tripoli and under the Libyan Red Crescent protection in Misrata, the ministry added, saying their ages do not exceed 5 years.

On Friday, the Speaker of the east-based House of Representatives (HoR) Aqilah Saleh met with the Head of the High Council of State (HCS) Abdelrahman Al-Sweihli for the first time since the passing of the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA) in Skhirat, Morocco on December 17, 2015.

The meeting took place in Rome under the supervision of the Italian government.

New Libyan constitution draft blueprinted by CDA accord committee

The accord committee at the Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA) has devised a new draft for the Libyan long-awaited constitution and has given it the name "A proposal for a concord draft for Libya's constitution," with 195 articles.

The accord committee was formed of 12 members, six of whom were from the CDA members who signed the previous draft in Oman, three others are from the CDA members who boycotted Oman meetings and the remaining three are from the CDA members who did not sign the draft at all.

Dignity Operation spoils Tripoli-Derna friendly match

Dignity Operation forces have banned players of Tripoli-based Al-Ittehad Football Club from entering the eastern city of Derna to play a friendly match with local club Darnus, causing frustration and disappointment for local fans who were eagerly waiting for the game to celebrate ISIS defeat.

The management of Tripoli club sent a letter of apology to its Derna counterpart for not being able to enter the city.

Derna throws an IS defeat anniversary celebration

Easterners in Derna city celebrated on Friday the first anniversary of defeating IS militants and liberating their city.

The celebration took place at the Sahaba square in the presence of Derna security department and security forces of Derna Shura Council, who were securing the event and the locals at the celebration for fear any violation of the security takes place.
