Presidency Council minister wants to revive Libyan Intellectual Property Law

The UN-installed Presidency Council Minister of State for Women Affairs and Community Development, Asma Al-Osta has sent a proposal to the administrative office of the council to form a committee consisting of specialists, headed by her, to consider the delay of Libyan law, passed in the late 1960s, for intellectual property.

Al-Osta’s comments came while attending the World Intellectual Property Day, which took place in Hammamet, Tunisia, on Wednesday.

Sudan Today newspaper reported that 12 Sudanese university professes who were contracted by the Libyan universities via Sudanese Higher Education Ministry are now living in an ordeal after the Libyan Higher Education Ministry stopped paying their salaries and housing and living stipends since five months ago.

PC issues pamphlet specifying customs tariffs for commodities

The Presidential Council (PC) of the UN-proposed government has specified the tariffs imposed by customs laws on certain commodities after discussions with the Audit Bureau and the Central Bank of Libya.

The new law excluded four basic food commodities as well as the crude materials and the needed equipment for the local production.

WPC Fletcher murder suspect named “Libyan Spy Chief”

A former Gaddafi officer, suspected of having links to the shooting of British police officer WPC Yvonne Fletcher outside the Libyan embassy in 1984, has been picked to head the Libyan Intelligence Agency.

The UN-installed Presidency Council (PC), headed by Fayaz Sirraj, issued a three-article decree on Monday naming deputies for the country’s Intelligence Agency chief.

Libyan authorities seize goods bound for smuggling to neighboring countries

The fuel and gas crisis committee has announced confiscating all of the vehicles that had been prepared to smuggle fuel and foods outside Libya via Ras Ajdair border with Tunisia.

The committee said Tuesday that Ras Ajdair security personnel seized all of the vehicles and foods as well as other goods that were en route to neighboring countries, adding that this crackdown is intended to constrain the ability of the smugglers and to maintain Libya's resources and fortunes.

Russian delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister arrives in Tripoli

A Russian delegation arrived Tuesday morning in Tripoli, according to the media office of the Libyan foreign ministry.

The delegation is headed by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, and the Minister of Industry, who both, along with the rest of the delegates, met with Fayez Al-Sirraj, the Head of the UN-proposed government, the Foreign Minister, Mohammed Sayala, the Chief of the Presidential Guard, Najmi Nakoa and other officials.
