First competition for entrepreneurs kick-started in Libya

Tatweer Research and MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab Region have launched Enjazi Competition for Entrepreneurs with the aim to foster innovation by the youth and strengthen Libya's economy.

The competition was kicked off Saturday and aims to be open for applications until June 01, 2017, as the finals for the competition will be held on December 14, 2017.

"Winners of the Enjazi Startup Competition will be awarded a trip to London's Startup Hub." A statement by the organizers stated.

Military mayor of Benghazi resigns

Mayor Ahmed Araibi has resigned after 7 months in office, Benghazi Municipality reported on Sunday.

Brig. Araibi announced his resignation in a video post on the municipality’s official Facebook page. He said rumours were spread to obstruct his job while tricksters had exerted efforts to replace him.

“I won’t allow anyone to say I glued to my chair for personal interests that may have negative impact on Benghazi,” he said in the resignation announcement.

War looms in south Libya as defense ministry launches military operation to eliminate Khalifa Haftar forces

The Defense Ministry of UN-proposed government announced on Saturday a new military operation to fight Dignity Operation forces in south Libya.

Spokesman Mohammed Al-Ghasri said Al-Amal Al-Mooad (Awaited Hope) Operation aims to eradicate forces of Mohammed Ben Nayel, a staunch follower of Khalifa Haftar, and ISIS fugitives from the south.

The announcement comes just four days after Mohammed Ben Nayel militants attacked the Third Force in Tamnihint airbase in Sabha.
