Murad Agha's Mosque is one of the most splendid pieces of Islamic architecture in Libya. It was built by Murad Agha, an Othmani Basha commander of the military campaign sent by Sultan Sulaiman in 1510, in response to the people of Tripoli's appeal against Spanish invaders.

The Mosque stands on a raised platform in the middle of Tajoura, a suburb of Tripoli.

EU Trust Fund for Africa assigns €90 million for migration management in Libya

The EU Trust Fund for Africa adopted Wednesday a €90 million program to step up the protection of migrants and reinforce migration management in Libya, upon proposal from the European Commission, a press release by the European Commission indicated.

Besides the support for improved migration management in the country, the comprehensive €90 million program is going to reinforce protection and resilience of migrants, refugees and host communities in Libya.

Coast Guard: 147 immigrants died at sea

147 African immigrants have drowned after their inflatable boat capsized off Libya’s western shores on Thursday, Libyan Coast Guard has reported.

The Coast Guard said the victims included 77 men, 55 women and 15 children.

“23 immigrants were rescued and provided with medical care,” it added. The tragedy happened 17 miles off Tripoli coast.

The boat was reported missing early in the day.
