A credentialing ceremony for 4 new ambassadors was held in Tripoli’s Red Castle on Thursday.

The historical Saraya Hamra building had undergone maintenance last week in preparation for the arrival of ambassadors of Yemen, Turkey, Austria and Canada with another group of ambassadors set to arrive next week, according to foreign ministry sources.

Gunmen open fire, attack staffers inside Food Control office in Tobruk

The Chief Investigator at the Tobruk Criminal Investigation Office, Hamdin Al-Kahashi, said an armed group attacked the Foods Control office in the city and fired random gunshots inside it, injuring one staffer, who is suffering serious injuries in Tobruk Medical Center.

Al-Kahashi added Thursday that when a force from the security department was sent to arrest them, the armed group had already fled the scene, pointing out that investigation is underway to eventually bring them down.

General Assembly of National Association of Municipalities convenes first meeting in Gharyan

The General Assembly of National Association of Municipalities has convened its first meeting in the presence of 26 municipalities from across Libya.

The meeting took place Thursday at Gharyan municipality building. Where discussion of the short-term plans for the association were conducted.

Mayors and municipal members both accentuated, during the meeting, how crucial it is to cooperate among one another and the necessity for one legal body to assume this task amid the current Libyan status quo.

A number of employees at the Afriqiyah Airways organized a sit-in at the company’s headquarters in Tripoli to demand reopening of the Afriqiyah Airways offices and resumption of work.

The company’s offices were shut and employees had been told to remain at home after the assault on the offices last week.

The Libyan Group for Quality and Excellence hosted in Tripoli on Thursday Libya’s Quality Conference 2016 to celebrate World Quality Day.

Several research papers on quality in aviation, education, training, and oil and gas were delivered to raise awareness in the society.

An exhibition was held on the sidelines of the conference where 16 local companies displayed their products.

A 4 million dinar allocation assigned to Jomhouriya Bank branches in Gharyan, Asabiya, Al-Shaqiqa, and the Islamic Bank in Gharyan was robbed by unidentified gunmen.

The Libyan News Agency (LANA) reported the Manager of the Jomhouriya Bank branches in the Western Mountain region, Abdelkareem Entat, who confirmed that the bank allocation was on its way to the administration headquarters in Gharyan coming from Zintan.

Clashes in Al-Zawiya rest as uneasy calm descends on the city

An uneasy calm has descended on Al-Zawiya city and armed clashes have ceased, according to sources from the city.

The sources added that on Wednesday, the surrounding of Jamal Abdelnaser and Omar Al-Mukhtar streets in Al-Zawiya were void of any armed presence after a bloody Tuesday resumption of fight between two local armed groups.

Main oil tank in Tobruk’s Hariga port resumes work

Work has been resumed in the main oil tank in the Tobruk-based Hariga oil port (also known as tank no.9) after it has been serviced.

“Now the crude oil coming from Misalla and Sareer oilfields can be pumped into the tank after it has been shut down for over 10 years.”

The Chief Director of the port, Rajab Sahnoon, told the press that the oil tank has a capacity for half a million barrels, adding that after it had been serviced, Tobruk oil tanks reached 10 with a total stockpiling capacity of 4 million barrels.

Dignity Operation conducts mass abduction of Ibrahim Jodran supporters

At least 17 supporters of Ibrahim Jodran's so-called Petroleum Facilities Guard were abducted by Dignity Operation militia groups in the towns of the oil crescent region on Wednesday.

Local sources said Salafist groups from Ajdabiya and a militia from Benghazi, both backed by rebel groups from Sudan’s Justice and Equality, raided houses of the supporters, mostly from Magharbah tribe, in Ras Lanouf and Ben Jawad towns at dawn causing panic among their families.

Their fate is still unknown, the sources indicated.
