The Libyan Investment Authority (LIA) today announced that the Libya Trade and Investment Forum is to take place in London on Monday 24th October 2016.

The Forum will be hosted by the LIA in conjunction with the UK Middle East Association (MEA) and Developing Markets Associates (DMA).

Benghazi: Foreigners make plea for help to flee ongoing fighting

Foreigners from Sudan, Chad, Egypt, Syria and Bangladesh have been trapped in Qawarsha and Qanfouda districts of Benghazi, as violent clashes are still raging there.

In a video recorded on Sunday, more than 50 foreigners made an urgent plea for help to leave the city with their families and said all roads are blocked due to the fighting.

"We want to leave the city in peace, there are attacks from the air and the land," a Sudanese national pleaded.

Libyans face administrative mistakes in the explosives detection course in UAE

The Head of the delegation of the explosives detection team sent by the Interior Ministry of Al-Thanni government, Abdel Atti Al-Masellati, confirmed that the team arrived in the UAE to do a course in the advanced mine detectors, however, it turned out that the course was in the basics of the detectors used in the airports, explosives and tracking dogs. Derna Shura Council has refuted reaching a truce with Khalifa Haftar’s militias that included turning the council’s fighters in to Haftar’s militias in a two-week span as was announced by media outlets affiliated with Dignity Operation.

The head of the media office at Derna Shura Council, Mohammed Idris Taher, confirmed they had agreed to go into negotiations about a truce supervised by Abdelbasit Igtet, who was a candidate for the Prime Minister position, being a neutral party.

AL-Ghasri: Leaks confirm IS leaders are besieged in Sirte

The spokesman of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos operation, Mohammed Al-Ghasri, said there are leaks, coming from inside IS groups, that confirm that there are IS leaders trapped inside Sirte.

Press Solidarity reported Al-Ghasri as saying that the existence of IS leaders inside Sirte made the militants, who are pinned down by Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos, reluctant to surrender.

Misrata Municipality announced on its Facebook page that an Italian airplane with the Italian ambassador onboard arrived Sunday in Misrata airport to transfer Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos (Solid Structure) injuries to Rome Military Hospital, adding that Misrata port will receive an Italian medicines shipment in the coming days to be given to Misrata Central Hospital.

Al-Zawiya Coast Guard rescues 8 boats stuffed with illegal immigrants

The coastguards of Al-Zawiya Refinery in the western branch rescued 8 boats on Friday in northern Sabratha city. The boats were filled with 1000 immigrants of different African and Arab nationalities.

The spokesman of the General Staff of Navy Forces, Ayoub Qasim, told Tripoli-based Libyan News Agency that the rescue operation took place when a coastguard patrol, which was checking the sea alongshore northwestern Al-Zawiya, caught the migrants on boats 10 miles off northern Sabratha.

Libya’s football team falls in a balanced group in World Cup qualifiers

The Libyan national football team has been placed in (group 1) along with Tunisia, Republic of the Congo, and Guinea in the third round’s draw of the qualifiers for Russia 2018 World Cup, which took place in the headquarters of the African Football Federation in Cairo.

In a very strong group, Algeria was placed with Nigeria, Cameroon, and Zambia, while Morocco came in (group 3) along with Ivory Coast, Gabon, and Mali, and the fifth group will pose a difficult challenge for Egypt as it is accompanied by Ghana, Uganda, and Congo.
