Government spokesperson reviews its history and future to the public

The new reshuffled Salvation Government has been officially formed and will stay in office until the Libyan parties come to terms regarding the formation of a national accord government, said the spokesperson of the government, Mohammed Ismaeil.

In a press conference Sunday, Ismaeil reviewed the stages, through which the SG had gone, starting from the government of Al-Hasi period and all the way to the current period when Prime Minister, Al-Ghweil has taken office.

UN envoy Kobler meets GNC, HoR delegations in Tunis

Representatives of the General National Congress and Tobruk Parliament met in Tunisia on Monday with the UN envoy to Libya Martin Kobler.

According to GNC sources, Kobler confirmed to both parliaments' delegations that he would not stand against the declaration of principles signed Saturday if it was endorsed by both parliaments and was welcomed by the majority of Libyan people.

If not, Martine said he would continue working on the UNSMIL agreement to reach a unity government.

Jordan imposes visa on Libyan nationals

Jordan decided to Monday to impose visa on Libyan nationals, a step that would create burden on Libyan travellers.

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry said Libyans will be required to apply for a visa as from December 15, while diplomatic passport holders will be exempted.

According to the decision, Libyan travellers to Jordan will be also required to meet residency requirements.

In September, Turkey re-imposed visa on Libyans after cancelling it in 2009.

Oil Minister Al-Zwai displeased with new government reshuffle

Oil Minister in the ex-National Salvation Government has said he would file a complaint in the Administrative Court against Prime Minister Khalifa Al-Ghawiel over a number of illegal administrative procedures.

Minister Mashallah Al-Zwai told Press Solidarity that Al-Ghawiel's NSG government had received LYD 1 billion; LYD 430 million of which have been already disbursed but  without documentation.

"LYD 370 million was transferred to the Supervisory Board, and 50 others to the General Staff." He said.

Two Gharyan residents brutally murdered in Wirshiffana

Two civilians from the mountain city of Gharyan have been killed in Wirshiffana, the city's hospital announced Sunday.

Gharyan Central Hospital said it had received the bodies of Samir Al-Dawaji and Ahmed Zaroga who were killed on identity base in Al-Hararat area of Wirshiffana while they were on their way to Tripoli.

The two victims were severely tortured before being killed by shots in the heads, hospital doctors say.

GNC deputy president calls new political agreement "historic chance"

GNC First Deputy Presidnet Awad Abdul-Sadiq called on Sunday the world countries to support the new initiative being exerted by the GNC and HoR to solve the political crisis in Libya.

Speaking at a joint press conference with HoR member Ibrahim Amish in Tunis, Awad said the new declaration of principles is a process in the right direction to achieve a political solution to the crisis, urging all Libyans to support it.

"We ask the UN, EU and Libya's neighbours to support the declaration." He said.

FIFA bans Al-Ittihad Club

The Football International Federation ‘FIFA’ has imposed a one-year ban on Tripoli's Al-Ittihad Club over non-payment of a footballer's dues.

The FIFA decided to exclude Al-Ittihad from the African Union Cup qualifier competitions, freeze the club’s activities, and deprive it from participating in any foreign or local championship including friendly matches.  

Al-Khums clashes to plunge western region into darkness

Heavy clashes erupted in Al-Khums, some 120km to the east of Tripoli, early Sunday between the city's military council and a tribal armed group known as Al-Miawal brigade.

The reason of the clashes, which took place near Al-Khums Power Steam Station, is still unclear.

A fuel storage tank in the station was completely set on fire due to the clashes, which could plunge the western region in a lengthy rolling blackout.

GNC, Tobruk parliament sign declaration to end conflict

Representatives from the General National Congress and Tobruk Parliament signed late on Saturday a declaration of principles to end the political conflict in the country.

The representatives, headed by GNC First Deputy President Awad Abdul-Sadiq and HoR member Ibrahim Amish, met in Tunisia and agreed to solve the Libyan problem without any foreign mediation.

Deputy Ministers of Salvation Government welcome new cabinet

Deputy Ministers in the Salvation Government have welcomed the new cabinet, refuting media reports that claimed they had refused to go.

In a statement on Friday, 49 deputies said they would comply with the GNC resolution about the formation of the 12-minister government, and have over power to their successors.

They also offered their apologies to the Libyan people for any shortcomings, saying lack of budget has hindered them from doing their tasks in a proper way.
