Protests and sit-ins are legal, says Fatwa House

Libya's Fatwa House announced on Tuesday the legality of protests and sit-ins as a fashionable style people might use to lift injustice and to ask for their rights.

The top religious body in the country stipulated in a statement posted on its official webpage that practicing the right to protest and claim rights should not harm the public rights.

Leon announces unity government, GNC dialogue members criticize

Names of the Government of National Accord were announced Thursday night. Fayaz Al-Sirrage, memebr of Tobruk parilment, was picked as the prime minister for government. Musa Al-Koni, Fathi Al-Mijibri and Ahmed Mitig were selected as deputies.

For the state ministers' position, Leon selected Mohammed Amari, GNC member, and Omer Al-Aswad.

Leon also proposed Abdul-Rahman Al-Swaihli as the president of State Council and Fathi Bashaga as Chairman of State Security Council.

Pro-Haftar police chief orders arrest of Al-Thanni interior ministry spokesperson

Colonel Moamin Bozohra, chief of Al-Bayda Security Department, has issued an arrest warrant against the spokesperson of Al-Thanni interior ministry Tareq Al-Kharraz for criticizing him.

Renegade General Khalifa Haftar appointed Colonel Bozohra as the General Commander of Police Forces last week. Shortly, Bozohra and other security chiefs in eastern Libya disowned Al-Thanni government saying orders will only be taken from "the General Commander of the Army."  

GNC wants more amendments to UNSMIL, Leon refuses

The Head of GNC Dialogue Team Dr. Awad Abdul-Sadiq flew back to Skhirat late on Wednesday with other GNC amendments that have to be included in the UNSMIL draft before GNC nominees for the unity government are announced.

Awad said in a press statement that GNC members think that certain amendments must be included first before names are given.

Even if we assumed that Leon’s draft, which I do not know from where it comes, is enough and precise, and it includes items, paragraphs and charts that organize the relation between the two conflicting political and legislative bodies, and that it is an agreed upon draft that should solve the problems, if we assume all of that, the draft remains doubtful.

Army bus attacked south of Sirte

A bus carrying more than 40 army personnel from the Third Force has been ambushed on Tuesday.

The soldiers were in their way from Al-Jufra to Misrata when gunmen believed to be affiliated with IS opened fire at the bus in Alload area, south of Sirte.

2 soldiers were killed and 3 others injured in an exchange of fire. 2 attackers were also killed.
