Tripoli-based LIA defeats rival’s bid to fast-track its legitimacy in English High Court

The English High Court stated Friday that it agreed with the Tripoli-headquartered Libyan Investment Authority (LIA), led by AbdulMagid Breish, that an application by the rival Malta-based group headed by Hassan Bouhadi should be rejected.

The application asked the English High Court to fast-track a decision on which of the Tobruk and Tripoli governments is the legitimate authority in Libya.

Leon seeks Abu Sahmain assistance to endorse agreement

Chief of UN Mission in Libya Bernardino Leon has asked GNC President for urgent assistance to mobilize support within the GNC to ensure ratification of the final UNSMIL draft agreement.

In a letter addressed to Nuri Abu Sahmain on Tuesday, Leon asked Abu Sahmain to treat the text of the political agreement as a single document inclusive of its various annexes.

"Endorsement of the text cannot be selective, and must be applied to the agreement as a whole." The letter reads.

A political agreement or imposing a trusteeship? What is the solution?

Building a strong state where justice and righteousness prevail, education prospers, people receive proper health care, security and stability take place and opportunities become equal for all Libyans is the goal which is agreed upon by all parties.

But, is it sufficient that the state gets built in this glittering and transparent way? Is it enough that it only possesses a constitution with governing principles that satisfy the aspirations of the people and include all values and ideals?

GNC: Leon's proposed government unbalanced

Leon's proposed names for the unity government represent one political party only, head of GNC dialogue team said in a press conference on Wednesday.

Following a session to discuss Leon's proposed government, Awad Abdul-Sadiq, also First Deputy President of GNC, described the government as unbalanced saying the GNC is still debating it.

Audit Bureau freezes assets of corrupt companies and individuals

The Audit Bureau has issued an ordinance that orders the freezing of the bank accounts of 26 companies for their involvement in foreign currency smuggling and counterfeit of official documents.

The Audit Bureau also froze bank accounts for 20 companies for evading customs duties and counterfeited official documents, additionally freezing bank accounts of 99 individuals for breaking the law by smuggling foreign currency, forgery, and evading customs duties.

Sabratha Municipality urges Tunisian authorities to set its Mayor free

Sabratha Municipality has denounced the arrest of its mayor by Tunisian authorities while he was coming back from an official mission in Tunis, supervised by the UNSMIL. 

The Municipality called on the Tunisian government to immediately release Mayor Hussein Al-Dwadi, and the civilian activist, Al-Azhar Al-Maqori, who was arrested on September 11, stressing that the Tunisian authorities should guarantee that they are safe and release them without any delay. 

Haftar Militias Attack Women

Rogue Gen. Khalifa Haftar's militia groups stormed Monday a house inhabited by six women whose father died during the liberation war in 2011. The women were screaming and begging for mercy. One woman said: "If you are men, go and liberate Al-Sabri instead of attacking women.
