The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) said it is ready to open two new units at the southern Tripoli gas turbine power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts.

“The Head of the GECOL and the production manager paid a visit to the site on Sunday to monitor the process of preparing the two units for activation.” The GECOL added, saying they could be at work, using light fuel, in the coming three days.

On the other hand, the media office of the GECOL said that the maintenance teams of the General Directorate of Transmission started overhauling works in six districts in western Libya including repairing electricity wires and junctions, adding that work is still ongoing in a number of power plants while others are still under maintenance.
