A Libyan Judo champion quit on Monday the ongoing 2015 World Judo Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan to avoid facing an Israeli opponent, the Libyan Olympic Committee revealed today.

Mohammed Al-Kwaisah, who is also ranked as Africa's Judo champion, won his first battle against his Jordanian opponent in the 66 kg category. In the second round, he was slated to face an Israeli wrestler but he decided to withdraw.

Around 800 athletes from 120 countries are taking part in the competitions which last until the end of August.
