The Zintan Municipality, Social Committee and Military Council of Zintan revolutionaries confirmed in a statement Friday that Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi is still behind bars and has not been released at all.

To clarify their stance to the public and to refute what the media outlets have been talking about for days now, the Zintani officials said the decision to let Saif Gaddafi out of jail will be according to law procedures and in a way that ensures the rights of Libyans and the convict.

A couple of days ago, the commander of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Brigade, which is detaining Saif Gaddafi, Al-Ajami AL-Etairi, confirmed Saif was released in line with the general amnesty issued by the Tobruk-based House of Representatives, however; he refused to say where to Saif has been sent for what he described as security reasons.

Likewise, one of Saif’s lawyers, Sadiq Khan, said in a televised interview that Saif was released in concord with the order made by Al-Thani government in the east based on the general amnesty ordinance that was passed by the HoR in 2015.
