The Tunisian Prime Minister, Al-Habeeb Al-Sayed said that his country started building separation wall and trench alongside the borders with Libya to prohibit the infiltration of extremists into Tunisia.

Speaking in a televised interview Tuesday, Al-Sayed indicated that the Tunisian army started to construct the 168 km-long wall on the fringes of Tunisia’s borders with Libya, adding that the wall will be finished before the end of this year, pointing out that it’s difficult to protect the borders with Libya because they have all kinds of relief, as he said.

Al-Sayed disclosed that Tunisia is intending to make electronic barriers on the borders with Libya although they cost an arm and a leg, stressing that such a project will take place if co-funded with Tunisia’s partners.

Tunisia has lately experienced strict security measures by the authorities such as declaring the state of emergency, which came as a reaction to Sousse attack that resulted in 38 deaths and 37 injuries.
