Four family members were brutally slaughtered in Khoms, 120 east of Tripoli, on Saturday, police reports.

Local sources said the father, his two sons and a daughter were all beheaded and then set ablaze by unknown gunmen who burst into their house at dawn, in a heinous crime that bore the hallmarks of ISIS.

ISIS graffiti were drawn on the walls of the house, the sources indicated.

Police said it’s the first of its kind crime in the city and that investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators.

“Regarding ISIS graffiti, we cannot say it’s a clue because the perpetrators may use this to disguise themselves as ISIS followers,” Chief of Khoms Police Department Colonel Mohammed Aby Sobah explained.

Social media activists claimed that ISIS radicals were behind the crime because one of the family members has joined the fight against ISIS in Sirte.
